Percale – Luxurious Bedding or Not?

I don’t know about you, but I want to wrap myself in luxurious bedding. After all, we spend one-third of our lives in bed, so, why not enjoy that time in comfort? When looking for the right fabric I found that linens can come in different styles and fabrics, not to speak of thread counts. So, without saying, it became a project to sort it all out.

I already knew that Egyptian cotton and bamboo were considered to be of high quality, but I also kept running across percale bed sheets. My original thinking was that percale was a type of fabric, much like Egyptian cotton. To my surprise I found that percale refers to a weaving process in which the fabric is woven and is not related to the fabric content that is used. A percale weave can be woven from almost any fiber and in bed linens it is usually woven from cotton. Cotton can be woven using various styles including percale, muslin and sateen. In percale, the yarns are woven one over one, unlike sateen where it’s four over one. The one over one weave in percale creates a much more even, stronger, denser and softer fabric, which can stand the test of time. The more you wash it, the better it feels.

I also found that percale fabrics are used extensively for bed sheets. Percale cotton sheets have a thread count of at least 180 to 200 threads per square inch with the same number of threads lengthwise and width-wise. Percale is woven in a plain weave method that produces a checkerboard effect on the surface of the fabric. The result is a very strong, medium weight fabric that holds up well in the wash. The more it’s laundered, the softer and more durable it gets. It stands to reason then, that with any type of higher thread you would get a stronger, denser and softer quality bed sheet.

Because the term percale refers to the weave of the sheets, not all percale sheets are 100 percent cotton. Some percale sheets are blends of cotton and polyester. You do need to check on the fabric being used. Egyptian or Pima cotton sheets are 100 percent cotton unless marked or described as a “blend” or a “mix”.

I did find out that cotton percale sheets tend to shrink when washed for the first time, but not to worry if they fit loosely on your bed before your wash them.

After my research I do feel comfortable is saying that a percale sheet would fit the bill as luxurious bedding.

In the Shadow of the Mouse: Relocation Stress in Orlando, Florida

Ah yes…Orlando, Florida, the land of dreams. A place where the magic of Disney permeates the community; where residents sing instead of talk, where children laugh and play without fear, where bluebirds regularly land on our shoulders. This is the city of hope and joy; where each person cares about the other; where hugs are frequent and neighbors are prized. Yes, Orlando is the happiest place on earth…or so I thought before I moved here.

However, for many who have moved to Orlando, the transition has been anything but joyful. When our expectations are high our disappointments, when those expectations are unmet, can often shake us to the core. That is what commonly happens to new residents of Orlando. In reality, many people who move here find Orlando to be disconnected, uncaring, and angry. In fact, a 2006 article by “Men’s Health” ranked Orlando as the #1 angriest city in America. That may shock those of you who live elsewhere but, to those of us who live here, it is no surprise. The traffic here is maddening. Our city combines tourists, retirees, those from other countries, unpredictable weather and constant new residents, resulting in very dangerous driving patterns. New residents often find it difficult to connect with people, maybe for the first time in their lives. This can lead to depression, loneliness and a feeling that one does not belong. In speaking with those who struggle here I have found that Orlando is regarded as “too slow” by many who come from the larger cities such as New York or Boston and yet it is “too fast and urban” for many who move from the Midwest. The transient nature of the city also factors into the difficulties. People move in and out of Orlando so often that it makes building connections much more complicated. Just when a person believes they know their neighbors and that he is building a social network those friends often relocate to another city or return to their home of origin. Because of the constant changes in social dynamics people are, in many instances, more leery of beginning friendships that go beyond the superficial. Frequently, people become callous because of losing so many friends over the years and, therefore, become less likely to expose themselves to that hurt again. Consequently, relationships here can be shallow, leaving people feeling empty more than connected.

So, yes, we have Disney and Universal Studios and Sea World and so much more for those who travel here on vacation; but for those who relocate here it is often a struggle.

Truth be told, this was my experience in moving here. Coming from a small town in Ohio I was used to connecting with ease. Back in Ohio we basically wave at everybody, whether we know them or not (a habit that has garnered me several strange looks in this city). People tend to have deep roots in the Midwest and so we lean towards being more laid back and interested in building long-term relationships. When I moved to Orlando, I knew it would take some time to establish myself but I assumed that it would be just as easy to fit in here as it had always been elsewhere. I was wrong. For years I hated Orlando. That’s the honest truth. I found Orlando to be unfriendly and too urban and fast-paced for my liking. Connecting with people in a meaningful way felt impossible which was all very new to me. There were so many times that I wanted to “get while the getting was good.” But God had other ideas. He kept me here and began to show me the way. He began to lead me into connection. Doors opened for me in my career and ministry that can only be described as oases in the desert. That was a huge step; finding a place to plug-in as far as ministry. But I still felt lonely and disliked living here. I told God as such….several times…….but He was patient with my complaining. What finally broke for me in this struggle for connection was that my family and I plugged in to our local Little League program. I began to coach my son’s team and also became one of the league’s umpires. I love baseball and began meeting people who loved it as well. From that league we began an adult softball league, which was also a passion of mine in Ohio. I began to meet more and more like-minded individuals and awesome families. It was amazing because most of them would tell us that they felt the same way we did, disconnected and lonely, until they joined this community league.

Now, years later, I have grown to love our community. I still hate the hot summers here, mind you, and I miss the fall and winter weather from up north (I know……I’m insane). However, my family has a place now…….and we have begun to build really solid friendships with some great families. Finally…Orlando feels like home.

But enough about me.

Over the years I have met more and more people who feel the same; out of touch, disconnected, lonely and depressed. Maybe you are one of those people. Relocating to Orlando can be very stressful, in spite of “The Mouse.” Let me offer some tips that I hope help you in this journey:

• Realize that you are not alone: It can feel that way here. Families can suddenly feel that they are unlovable or that they are the only ones who cannot seem to make friends here. It’s not true. In my counseling and even in my personal life I have met SO MANY people who feel the same way. You are in good company.

• Don’t take it personally: Because there are lots of people dealing with the same types of relocation stress you must realize that it isn’t primarily about you. The dynamics of Orlando can lead one to begin to doubt themselves, as if something is wrong with them. Don’t buy into that. The truth is that what you’re feeling has far more to do with the characteristics presented in this article than it does about you personally.

• Be sensitive to your family: One thing I have found in my practice is that children and teenagers especially struggle when they move here. I have seen the same scenario played out again and again: Dad moves here for a new job and the majority of his time goes into that. Mom does her best to get the household in order but is also dealing with loneliness and a general feeling of being overwhelmed. In the midst of this, the parents don’t realize that their kids are experiencing the same difficult emotions that come from relocation stress and often have a more difficult time dealing with them. Kids don’t always know how to express those kinds of emotions and so they act out. Their grades drop for the first time ever, they become more isolated, their attitude becomes more belligerent, and they pull away from the family. Many times the parents chock this up to just being part of “the teen years” or a phase their kids are going through. Parents sometimes minimize the problem even as their kids are deeply struggling from the move. Over time, the kids start seeking out relief in various unhealthy forms and then the whole family has a big problem. It is a painful thing to watch. If you have moved to Orlando or are planning to, please have a plan for helping your kids with the move. Keep communication lines open and realize that kids struggle more than they let on. Don’t allow relocation stress to destroy your family.

• Seek out natural connection points: My hope is that you implement these strategies sooner than I did. Begin immediately to look for places where everyone in the family can connect. The way to do that is to seek out activities and groups that are interested in the same things you are. For me, it was our local Little League. Have a family discussion about what yours might be. If you like camping, check out the Boy Scouts. Find a way to get your kids into the sports they have always loved. Find a church home that feels like a place you could connect with others. Join a gym. Whatever the specifics are, find a place where you can find connection with others who enjoy the things you do.

• Expect it to take time: You must have realistic expectations when you move here. This was difficult for me. I had never had a problem in connecting with others so I expected Orlando to be no different. It’s not. The dynamics are far different here so expect it to take you longer than usual to build those connections. If it doesn’t take long, WONDERFUL, but set your expectations in a way that doesn’t lead to frustration and depression. If the stress overwhelms you or a member of your family, seek out a good counselor or life coach who can lead you on this path.

So is Orlando a preview of what Hades might be like? I thought so for a while. But it’s not. If you follow these tips, Orlando can become your new home before you know it. So, c’mon down! The Mouse is waiting.

Simple Ways to Save Money Right Away

There are many ways you can be frugal and still enjoy life. You don’t have to be a cheapskate which is different than being frugal. Being frugal is living within your means.

Frugal Living Tips

Coupons

If you haven’t seen the TV show Extreme Couponing, you’re not really missing much. As the name of the show indicates, extreme is what these people do on the show. They don’t redeem several coupons during a grocery shopping trip, they redeem many. Some shopping trips take three hours…now that’s extreme! How they get it all home in one trip? I guess a very big car.

I don’t expect anyone to have that much time on their hands to make it a full-time job couponing because that is exactly what it is. Clipping coupons is a great way to save on everything and anything. Even if you have a coupon for 50 cents off, that’s better than paying full price in my books and that’s a bonus in my house.

The downside to couponing is buying something you don’t necessarily need. Only use coupons for purchases you use regularly.

Fitness

Gym memberships can be costly, but you don’t need one to stay fit. Go to your community center or the YMCA. You can bike, walk, run, hike, swim, skip, use your stairs at home, do yoga, and buy fitness DVDs etc. You can buy second-hand exercise equipment like dumbbells. You can also go to Craigslist, Freecycle.org or other thrift shops to buy home equipment. When it’s nice out, you can use the kid’s playground to work out.

Meats

When it comes to buying meats, buy the family size packs. This way you can have at least four meals. Sometimes shopping at a Wholesale Club is more cost-effective than buying from a regular grocery shop that has family size packs.

Haircuts

Shorter hair has more maintenance than long hair. You can do more with longer hair and it doesn’t look too bad once it gets out of shape. Short styles need to be cut more often so keep that in mind when it comes to choosing a hair style. If you can cut your own hair, that’s even a bigger bonus.

Dining

It’s nice to eat out occasionally and eating out every week adds up. Limit eating out and try to make it a habit to look for coupons or other savings before you do choose to eat out.
Credit Cards

Use your credit cards for emergencies only. If you don’t have the cash to pay for it, then you can’t afford it.

Shopping

If don’t mind slightly worn clothes, you can try consignment stores. Always be on the look out for sales at shopping malls. You can find sales at the end of a season or at the end of the year. They are also great deals shopping online too, but be aware of the shipping costs.

Home Maintenance

Deal with and fix anything in your home immediately. Leaving things broken can only lead to bigger problems which mean you may not be able to repair it yourself.

Importance of a Deep Fryers

Do you have any idea what are deep fryers? If not, then it’s time you learn on e of the many important facts about cooking. Cooking is a hobby and even a profession for a number of people especially those who stay at home. There are different types of cooking apparatus, equipment and materials that you can purchase and use. Each of them have their own purpose or usage. These are ordinary items to us if you get to think of it. We can see them in our houses or in department stores and restaurants. We use them everyday. Today there are lots of new things and each item becomes more specific for a certain use. And one very good example of this is the deep fryer.

When we say deep fryer, it means for frying. It has a basket use to free the pieces of meat from the oil. It is common to a fast-food chain and to some restaurants. You can make your own snack while staying at home or watching a movie with your family. In a fast-food chain it is used to fry fries, chicken, meat, etc. There are different types of deep fryers, there are professional ones which are very common in a fast-food chain. A cool touch fryer is safer, because it is not too hot on the outer surface, so you won’t be burned. The stainless ones which is the most common to us can be seen in some houses. There is also a digital fryer which is more elegant to have and it is also programmable so you can leave it unattended. Though these equipment only have limited types of cooking, it guarantees good results.

We can buy these deep fryers in some department stores; they have different prices depending on the type of fryer and of course your preference. You can choose the stainless fryer if you are one of those who are looking for a cheaper price. But, for those who can afford expensive things, there are other choices for you. You could choose the model that fits your cooking habits.

Proper maintenance of these things will result to longer use. After every use washing it with soap and water makes it last longer; it frees the fryer from dirt and stain. Wipe it with dry and clean linen to decrease retention of fluid that may cause rust. Using it inappropriately may cause fire. So you must read its instructions or manual to avoid harm to your family. So be responsible and cautious in using such equipment.

7 Tips for How to Be More Neighbourly

All too often you hear people complain that we all live in a dis-jointed society where we live in our little bubbles and don’t know our neighbours. They hark back to ‘the good old days’ when a community truly was a community. Nowadays, we move around a lot more than maybe we once did, with families living in different cities, counties and even countries and a lot of people move into an area knowing no-one and feeling isolated. But moaning about it does not change anything, here are my suggestions as to how you can actually do something productive to change it and make your little corner of the earth a more pleasant and friendly place to live.

1. It sounds really obvious, but talk to your neighbours. Even if you don’t know their name you can still exchange pleasantries with the people whose faces you see every day. If you’re shy start with just smiling or waving and move on up to a ‘hello’ gradually. Other ways to contact include cooing over their baby, stroking their dog etc.

2. Give a spare key to a neighbour. It’s so handy to have someone who can help you out if you lock yourself out, who can water your plants/pets when you’re on holiday. Not only that but it’s a great act of faith to the neighbour and one they’ll probably be glad to reciprocate.

3. Walk the area. It’s too easy to take the same route all the time and not get to know what’s round your corner. I found that when I had my first child and was taking him out for walks in the pram that I discovered shortcuts, beautiful parks, nature spots as well as houses & shops.

4. Use your local shops. Small business’ really appreciate the trade, you’ll feel good about supporting the community and you’ll find yourself involved. You’ll get the gossip and find out what’s going on – not just through chatting but also seeing the posters. Which leads me nicely to…

5. Attend local school fetes, church fairs, events, coffee mornings, fundraisers etc. These things rely on local support and often provide a great day out for little or no cost. And by knowing you’re helping out you get a lovely warm feeling inside.

6. If you have time, volunteer! Local community groups, libraries, newsletters, schools, playgroups etc are normally crying out for extra pairs of hands and it’s a great way of making friends in your locality.

7. And finally, when you’ve done all this and settled in, made new friends and really feel part of the community be sure to go the extra mile to welcome new people to the neighbourhood when you see them moving in. Oh, and if you move out why not leave a “welcome to the neighbourhood” pack.

Admittedly some of this stuff may mean stepping out of your comfort zone, you may worry about being nosy or your intrusions being unwelcome, but in general people want to be friendly, it just takes the brave one to make the move. Once you start to make these little changes you’ll find you have a whole new set of friends, people you can turn to when you need to – for babysitters, to jump start your car, to take in parcels – and of course you can do the same for them!

Necessities for Your First Apartment

You have finally made it out of your parent’s house. Congratulations, you are now officially an adult. You are probably a bit nervous having left the comfort of home and dorm life behind. This move, while exciting, comes with some anxiety. Relax, with a few well chosen accessories your place will become the go-to hangout for all your friends.

First, do the boring part, the part that ensures your safety. Check the batteries on your smoke alarms and either locate the fire extinguisher or go out and buy one.

While we’re on the grimmer aspects of renting, Carbon Monoxide (CO2) will kill you dead! Make sure your CO2 alarm is plugged in at all times. The only way safety devices can save you is if they work.

Next purchase is either curtains or blinds to give you some privacy. Your neighbors aren’t delighted to see you scratching that itch while you sit in the living room watching TV, and you certainly don’t want them to. Do yourself and your neighbors a favor and spend a few bucks on window treatments.

Now that you’ve got your privacy, you can take a shower. You’ll need towels for you’re the bath, and your face and hands. Please get hand towels. Don’t force people to dry their hands on something you’ve wiped your body with.

Towels for the kitchen are essential. A garage full of paper towels only lasts so long. But a good stack of dishtowels can last you a lifetime. Cheap, reusable, and decorative, dishtowels will save you money in the long run.

If you need a shovel to forge a path through those dirty clothes lying all over your place, get a clue and purchase a collapsible clothes hamper with wheels. You can wheel the thing all over, picking up clothes and putting them in the hamper as you go. On laundry day you can roll the hamper to the laundry room. Once the laundry is done, roll it back full of clean clothes, put the clothes away, collapse the hamper and you have saved yourself some precious floor space while being tidy as all get out.

Throw pillows aren’t just for decoration. Use them as extra seating. A pile of large throw pillows or cushions can double as an extra comfy seat for movie night with friends. A plushy pillow bed can also make a great crash spot for unexpected sleepovers or drunk friends.

As for kitchen appliances, don’t buy what you will never use. Come on, will you really be making gruyere fondue, paninis or Belgian waffles? I don’t think so. You do not need specialized cooking appliances. All you need is a microwave, a toaster oven and crock pot.

Every once in a while you need to hunker down and get dirty. The right cleaning products can save you cash and time. Your cleaning kit should include:

- Dish detergent
- All purpose, preferably antibacterial cleaner in as big a jug as you can find
- Scrubbing compound
- Micro-fiber clothes
- Sponges
- Empty one liter spray bottles

This should take car of the kitchen and bathroom. For the floors you might want a Swiffer for the occasional wash. However, a broom, dustpan, and vacuum are a must to keep your floors free of dirt and mud.

A coat rack can be a real space saver even in warmer weather. Hang your keys, backpack, purse, or the bikini you need to take back to the mall. With all this free floor space, you might have enough room for a table and some chairs!

A place to put a table is at a premium in most apartment units. If you and your friends want to chow down and chat instead of watch TV, you should be looking for a small kitchen table with chairs. Depending on your entertaining style, you may be just fine with a large coffee table instead, a place to set down your drinks and chips when you and your guests are not eating or drinking.

Now that you are organized, invite those envious friends over and show them what you have accomplished with your new space. Maybe you should add a blender after all to your kitchen needs for those prize-winning Margaritas you are famous for. Yup, your friends will be green with envy.

Explanations Why People Need Storage

The world has been lucky for several decades to be riding the crest of a monetary wave. People were rich, and able to buy whatever knick knacks they wanted to fill their home. Often, these things began to outnumber many others in a person’s house, and so there was a vital need for storage. Even with the becalming of the economic sea, there is still more clutter in a person’s home, office and workplace than ever before.

Some people love household storage, and are fetishists for it. The sense of tidiness can drive people insane with desire, because the look of clean angles and tidy surfaces is unparalleled. Some can spend hours on end in department stores and home furnishing locations, looking at cupboards and sideboards with the notion that a clean house is a better house. Being tidy in your own place is often considered to be representative of having a tidy, uncluttered mind (even though that link may be vacuous), and so many thrive on keeping clean.

There was a short period of time in the early twenty first century when people shied away from storing things in units. Pared back design was the way forward, but it lasted for only a short space of time in history. That is because the human desire to collect and gather is impossible to repress.

It is why, for example, some collect items like coins, stamps or paintings. Humanity as a whole wants to be able to contribute something, and some feel that through their collections a contribution is being made to society.

Of course, a place to put all these items is needed. That is why storage facilities are so important. They can be based within the home, with many people converting entire rooms into new places to store items. They are solely devoted to the safe keeping of things.

Others will often transform a shed or garage into a place to keep stuff. The desire to keep things tidy rules all. But there is a third way.

Off site storage has become more widely used of late. This is because the size of the average home has dwindled just as people are collecting more and more clutter. The two different variables cannot possibly meet at the end of the process. The average person is gathering more items around them just as there is less space to store them. Affordable, nearby off site facilities run by companies are therefore the logical answer.

People are given a bay to place their items which is often locked by the finest technology in security systems. They will have permanent access to this, sometimes 24 hours a day, with a personal key as well as a means of access being held by the storage owner. This is in case one key is lost, and in the event of a fire or natural disaster.

Items placed in this kind of storage are often not the most vital pieces in a person’s collection. This is because they are rarely used, being so remote. But for things which may be used in the future this is very useful.

How To Land On The Best Nanny Jobs Agencies

Sometimes, the daily commitments in life usually consume the space that would have been used by families to effectively run the affairs of their homes. It is on this note that there is need for extra task force that is in a position to offer support. On the other hand, some families may be affected by factors such as old age, or the availability of juniors who need constant attendance that may not be provided by the family unit as a whole. This is where nanny jobs come in handy.

It is on this note that a nanny agency plays a vital role when it comes to offering the necessary support needed. However, some people make lots of mistakes when it comes to outlining the credentials to consider when seeking their services. This article provides the necessary qualifications that should be followed when considering the right candidates for this job.

The primary consideration for any type of employment revolves around experience. The applicant has to display some evidences of experience. This enables them to handle matters on a professional ground other than struggling to make things work out. Experience is for the good of whoever is to be taken care of. Once you have employed such nannies, you will be at peace with yourself since you are guaranteed of safety for whoever is to be taken care of, be it kids.

Passion is another primary role. The nannies have to be passionate with their work. It is not surprising to notice that some nanny agencies have staffs who do not like what they do. They must show some signs of dedication when it comes to handling the kids.

Often, kids tend to like workers who are ever interactive. That is what characterizes the life of children. Good nanny services have to be as loving as possible, be able to interact easily and also be understanding.

The other requirement for this type of job is perseverance. Handling children is a tedious task. As a matter of fact, the faint hearted are never suitable. It requires some element of patience and urgency so as to be able to learn them and work better. A good nanny service is the one that has the capability to offer nannies who are hard working and ready to take the ensuing challenges associated with this task.

The other basic requirement is all about being educative. The children have to learn a few things during the period they have spent with them. Of course, this educative aspect is ever on the positive side. The worker has to be in a position to create a positive impact on the lives of children.

These toddlers tend to have high learning abilities and it matters a lot how the persona in charge of them is behaving. If at all the attendant is have negative values, you will be sure to notice it reflected on the attendees. Still on matters regarding commitment, nannies jobs require lots of attention. You should be able to define the time you need them and what you are willing to offer.

Writing a Local Information Pack

I think that everyone moving home should make a neighbourhood information pack to leave for the people moving into their home full of all the information that the estate agents don’t tell you but are much more useful than what they do. If selling your home I’d advise doing them in advance and giving a copy to everyone viewing your home so they can make a more informed decision.

Here’s what I put into mine, broken down into categories for you to work with. Obviously you can develop this and amend it to suit your needs and circumstances.

Introductory Paragraph

Write a couple of sentences about how long you’ve lived there and what you like most about the area. Something along the line of “I’ve lived in X for 5 years & love it. It has everything you need within easy walking distance and is handy for both visiting the city centre and escaping to the country. It’s very friendly and we’ve always felt welcomed.” introduces your pack in a personal manner.

Then you should go on to cover just what there is in your area, I’d suggest breaking it down into the following categories. You could use headers and write it ‘list’ style or you could simply break it up into paragraphs.

Shops

What local independent shops do you have and where?

Where are the closest supermarkets and what times do they open? (and do you need to take a coin for the trolley?) Where is the closest 24hr supermarket?

Where’s the closest out of town shopping centre?

Is there a late shopping night?

Where are the closest DIY and furniture shops? (let’s face it – this will probably be very useful to know!)

Children

Which is your catchment primary and secondary school?

Other local schools – state & private.

List of local nursery schools & ages they cater for.

Where are Holiday Clubs run?

Where’s the local Children’s Centre?

Where and when are the local toddler groups?

Facilities

Can you recommend a local hairdresser or barber?

Can you recommend a local doctor or dentist?

Where is the nearest library? Post Office? Free ATM? Internet Access?

Is there a local garage that you can recommend?

Or any local tradesmen?

Leisure

Details of the local Leisure Centre including what facilities it offers, classes etc

Local Gym?

Is there a soft play area close by?

Where are the local parks, play areas and walks?

Socialising

What extra-curricular activities are there in the area – maybe an aerobics class or local history group?

What are the local pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants like?

Where’s the nearest cinema, sports venues?

Transport

Where are the local bus, train, underground stations?

How much does it cost to get to the town centre?

How regular is the service?

Worship

List of the closest churches (with denominations if known), mosques, temples etc.

Include as many details as you can – phone numbers, flyers, opinions. Let people know if there’s a business you’d recommend but also warn them about where to stay clear.

Try and think about what you wish you’d known when you moved in and what you’d like to know if you were moving to a new area.

Getting The Best Play Set For Your Kids

Physical activity should be a part of children’s lives from an early age to ensure they grow up in a healthy manner. A backyard play set provides opportunities for playing outdoors and using their imaginations. When placed in your backyard, the jungle gym makes a great addition, adding value to your home. Having the play equipment at your own home offers a high level of protection for your kids. Before buying any play set, there are certain qualities and conditions that need to be looked into.

There are different types of play sets in the market and when purchasing one, it is ideal to consider the kids’ age and where it is going to be placed before making a purchase in order to make an appropriate choice. For instance, you must ensure that it is designed from high quality materials like rubber and plastic. These materials are known to be long lasting and they don’t require much maintenance. With busy lives, the need for families to spend more time together has grown and when purchasing a play set it is important to select components that the whole family can enjoy.

Swing sets are ranked among one of the most fun backyard play structures for not only kids but adults too. The playground equipment has developed and changed over the years and now comes with different options for consumers to choose from. For instance, there are some standalone swings and some combination pieces. Swing sets provide the perfect opportunity for kids to have fun and at the same time learn the basics of sharing. This is especially true when the set bought is designed for use by two or more children. Combination sets are often combined with additional playground equipment. Before buying the swing sets, there are several considerations that need to come into play such as the level of safety offered by the sets, safety precautions that need to be taught to kids and identification of the best places to place the sets.

A jungle gym is another possible important addition in your kids’ playground. They come with a whole lot of fun activities for your child to indulge in and are considered a must have. Having your own jungle gym gives children the opportunity to work not only their muscles but imagination as well. These come in different theme types and designs to choose from including castle, pirates’ ship or skyscrapers. Jungle gyms are able to accommodate several kids at a time promoting cooperative play. They also come with numerous features such as saddles, twisted tube slides, fire poles, ladders and tire swings among others.

Having a play set will be an investment that has far reaching effects to your family. The most important ones are the life long memories of the fun times spent together, learning to play using their imaginations and being physically active. When selecting the most ideal jungle gym or swing sets, it is advisable to take into consideration the needs of your kids and family at large in order to make an informed decision. Spend some time with your family discovering which components you all want to have in your play set.
